The model can communicate values but cannot prove them
A thoughtful model, natural location and minimal styling can support a sustainability message visually, but none of those elements proves how a garment was sourced or manufactured. The campaign should separate creative tone from factual environmental claims.
Models should know the genuine story they are helping communicate without being asked to improvise claims about materials, labour or impact.
Best-in-class marketing is specific
Strong sustainability communication names what is actually different: repair, resale, local production, verified materials, lower-volume collections or another concrete practice. The modelling creative makes that story desirable without replacing evidence.
For South African brands, specificity is more persuasive than generic green imagery and creates a clearer brief for talent.
