A release should describe the permission being given
A model release records consent for specified use of a person's likeness, but useful releases are more precise than a blanket statement that a brand can do anything forever. The production should identify the parties, project and intended categories of use clearly enough to be understood later.
Commercial teams should align the release with the booking terms rather than allowing two documents to describe different rights.
Clear consent supports better production
Media channels, territory, duration, editing rights and sensitive context should be discussed before publication. If a campaign later expands, renewal or additional permission may be more appropriate than assuming the original scope covered everything.
This is production guidance rather than legal advice; high-value or unusual agreements should be reviewed by qualified counsel familiar with the relevant jurisdiction.
